GRID Industrial Design Studio

GRID is an industrial design studio based in Kraków, active since 2001, specializing in product design, enclosure design, redesign, and design audits for manufacturing, technology, and medical companies across Poland.

Who we are?

We started out in graphic design. Over time, we added industrial design, product design, 3D printing, and prototyping to what we do — today, that’s our core focus and what we work on every day.

The GRID team is made up of designers trained across different art school departments, including the Faculty of Industrial Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. What connects us is our daily work on projects, and a shared interest in technology, craftsmanship, photography, and drawing. We work well as a team, and we’re always driven by the same goal: getting a design right down to the smallest detail.

What we design?

Our offer covers a product’s entire life cycle — from the first concept to documentation ready for production. We handle new product design, redesign of existing products, enclosure design for electronic and medical devices, prototyping using 3D printing, and design audits and design strategy.

We also help companies secure EU funding for design projects — running design audits, developing strategies, and preparing the required project documentation.

How we work?

Every project starts with analysis. Before we draw the first line, we want to know who the product is for, how it will be manufactured, what price range it needs to fit, and what it will be competing against on the market. Only once we’ve nailed down the key assumptions and reviewed existing solutions do we move into the real work — product design.

We develop the concept and define the product’s functionality, then choose materials, colors, shape, form, and production technology, and prepare the documentation. From there, we work with a physical prototype, testing, optimizing, and refining its shape, aesthetics, and functionality. In the final stage, we supervise the manufacturing process and control its quality.

The result: a product ready for rollout and mass production.

The process, step by step:

  1. Analysis and brief — we get to know the product, the market, the constraints, and the goals.
  2. Concept — developing the key product assumptions.
  3. Detailed design — complete documentation that accounts for the manufacturing technology.
  4. Prototyping — a 3D model and a physical prototype for testing.
  5. Rollout — handing over documentation ready for production.

FAQ

Yes. We work with large enterprises as well as smaller companies at an early stage of product development.

Anywhere from a few weeks to a few months, depending on complexity. We set the schedule at the start of our collaboration.

Yes. We develop every project with manufacturing technology and production costs in mind, so the documentation is ready for rollout without needing to be redesigned.
