CAVCA
Industrial design
CAVCA is more than a vending machine — it’s an innovative, self-service coffee point with a design all its own. The core idea behind the machine was to break away from the typical look of a vending machine and create a space with a modern, yet warm character. The device’s main audience is students and young people, so its shape, colors, and finishing details were carefully designed around that audience’s style.
Features:
- A fully self-service, cashless payment system through a card terminal.
- The unit includes a coffee machine with a touchscreen, a cabinet for extras, a QR code reader, and a large display showing current product information and promotions, along with usage instructions.
- At the coffee spot, freshly ground beans and freshly frothed milk come together for high-quality coffee. Several types of milk are available, including dairy, lactose-free, and plant-based.
- The project was designed with the environment in mind: CAVCA’s disposable cups are paper, and the lids come from a dispenser that releases them one at a time — keeping things hygienic while using resources responsibly. Reusable CAVCA cups, available separately, further help cut down on single-use packaging.
- An accessible version is also available, featuring a lowered counter for wheelchair users and Braille descriptions for visually impaired users.
Technical specifications:
The coffee point measures 1600mm in length, 800mm in width, and 2600mm in height. These dimensions allow for storing a wide range of milk varieties, adapting to customer needs.
The structure is built from steel profiles and bent sheet steel, using CNC machining and laser cutting. The enclosure combines wood, steel, and plastic elements for an aesthetic, approachable look. Dedicated components were also produced using 3D printing technology.
The entire visual identity follows a consistent color palette and graphic style.
